Mini-Post: Eskimo

Why is "Eskimo" not considered Politically Correct? The correct term is "Inuit".

After looking it up, I found that "Eskimo" refers to all indigenous inhabitants of "the circumpolar region from eastern Sibera to Alaska, Northern Canada, and Greenland".

"Inuit" is just one group that makes up "Eskimos".

So, wouldn't calling all Eskimo's, 'Inuits', be like calling all Iroquois/Haudenosaunee's, 'Mohawk'? Wouldn't Inuit be more offensive if you were Yupik (another Eskimo group)?
